2021 South Island Sale Catalogue Online on Gavelhouse Plus

30 March 2021

NZB's 2021 South Island Sale is now live on Gavelhouse Plus.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s annual South Island Sale of yearlings is now live and available to view on their leading online subsidiary Gavelhouse Plus.

Bidding on the online Sale will commence from Monday 12 April, with the first lot closing incrementally at 7PM (NZT) on Wednesday 14 April.

For the second consecutive year, the Sale will operate on the digital auction platform, allowing consignors and buyers to confidently operate under the terms of a traditional NZB auction.

This year’s catalogue features a quality line up of yearlings offered by leading consignors located in both the North and South Islands, including a number of siblings to stakes winners and progeny of stakes-winning dams.

A strong contingent of 30 proven, emerging and first season sires are represented by 63-lots, including progeny by Sacred Falls, Charm Spirit, Reliable Man and Proisir, as well as exciting stallion prospects Almanzor, Mongolian Falcon, Time Test and War Decree

Some, but not all of the standout bloodlines accessible in the South Island Sale catalogue include:

  • Lot 16 is a filly by Sacred Falls out of Suriyan (NZ) (Savabeel) offered on account of Clearview Park Stud in Timaru. This filly is closely related to Group Three winner Kinane (NZ) (Reliable Man), while her dam is a half-sister to Group Three-winning Magic Dancer (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle).
  • Lot 25, a Tivaci colt by multiple Group-winning dam Alagant Satin (NZ) (Al Akbar) offered on account of Currahmore. Alagant Satin won the Group Two Eight Carat Classic (1600m) and the Group Three Eulogy Stakes (1600m), claiming more than $227,000 in career earnings.
  • Lot 41 is a colt by freshman sire Almanzor out of Freequence (NZ) (O’Reilly) consigned by Woburn Farm. He is a half-brother to Group One winner I Do (NZ) (No Excuse Needed), who has claimed the $200,000 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) and the Group Three Foxbridge Plate (1200m).
  • Lot 47 is a Vadamos colt out of Pentire mare in Kiara (NZ) offered by Rich Hill Stud. This lots dam is a full-sister to Champion Sprinter in New Zealand and ten time Group One-winning (King) Mufhasa (NZ) and is also from the family of multiple Group One winner (The) Bostonian (NZ) (Jimmy Choux).

All unbroken yearlings offered through the 2021 South Island Sale on Gavelhouse Plus are eligible for NZB’s lucrative Karaka Million Series, featuring two $1 million races. After they make their virtual sale-ring debut, graduates of the online sale can compete for a share in the $1m Double Tree by Hilton Karaka Million 2YO (1200m) and the $1m Karaka Million 3YO Classic (1600m), in addition to the $100,000 CollinsonForex Karaka Cup (2200m), which they can contest for the remainder of their career.

All yearlings will be available for on-farm inspections with NZB Agents available to inspect on behalf.
