BEAUTY GENERATION (NZ)

A horse who needs no introduction, Beauty Generation (NZ) (Road to Rock) was purchased from at Karaka in 2014 for NZ$60,000 from Highden Park's draft. The Hong Kong champion went on to earn a record-breaking HK$106 million, equivalant to 358 times his original purchase price at Karaka!

MR BRIGHTSIDE (NZ)

Mr Brightside was a $22,000 purchase by Phill Cataldo from Phoenix Park's 2019 Karaka May Sale draft, then failed to meet his $50,000 reserve when offered at the Ready to Run Sale later that year. He has gone on to become one of Australia’s pin-up racehorses, winning 18 of his 40 starts and more than A$16m. The 2024 Champions Mile was his eighth Group One win, and he has earned equivalant to 822 times his original purchase price at Karaka!

The seven-year-old marvel scored her third Group One victory in the 2024 A$1m Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington. Purchased for $260,000 as a yearling at Karaka 2019, she has now had 46 starts for 11 wins, 16 placings and A$5.63m – 24 times her sale price!

GYPSY GODDESS (NZ)

Queensland Oaks winner Gypsy Goddess (NZ) (Tarzino) could have been purchased at Karaka for just NZ$20,000 from Curraghmore's Karaka 2020 draft. The six-time winning filly has over A$1,900,000 in earnings to her name - equivalant to 107 times her reserve price already!

ROCH 'N' HORSE (NZ)

Multiple Group One sprint winner Roch N Horse (NZ) (Per Incanto) could have been purchased for just NZ$40,000 from Little Avondale's draft at Karaka 2018. The mare is now a winner of five races, including two prestigious Group One sprints in Australia with more than A$3,000,000 in earnings. Equivalant to 81 times her reserve price!

MELODY BELLE (NZ)

14-time Group One winner Melody Belle (NZ) (Commands) was purchased by David Ellis for $57,500 at Karaka 2016 from Haunui Farm's draft. The champion mare won over $4,200,000 - equivalant to 74 times her purchase price at Karaka! 

 

SHARP 'N' SMART (NZ)

Sharp 'N' Smart pictured as a yearling

The talented Sharp ‘N’ Smart (NZ) (Redwood) demonstrated his immense value during Australia’s 2022 Spring Racing Carnival. The Group One Spring Champion Stakes winner and Victoria Derby runner up was purchased for $55,000 by Rogerson Bloodstock from Westbury Stud’s Karaka 2021 draft. He has now won A$2,833,783, more than 55 times his initial purchase price.

LION'S ROAR (NZ)

Group One winner Lion's Roar (NZ) (Contributer) was purchased by Champion Thoroughbreds for

NZ$65,000 at Karaka 2019 from the draft of Wellfield Lodge. The six-time winner has now earned over A$2,300,000. Equivalant to 39 times his purchase price. 

 

Lucky Sweynesse as a two-year-old 

LUCKY SWEYNESSE (NZ)

Hong Kong sensation Lucky Sweynesse (NZ) (Sweynesse) was presented by Woburn Farm at the 2020 Ready To Run Sale where he was sold for NZ$90,000 to J & I Bloodstock. The four-time Group One winner has accumulated more than HK$74,000,000 in winnings. Equivalant to more than 181 times his purchase price. 

 

Golden Sixty as a two-year-old

GOLDEN SIXTY

The champion himself Golden Sixty (Medaglia d'Oro) is a three-time Champions Mile winner, and a 10-time Group One winner. He was presented at the 2017 Ready To Run Sale by Riversley Park where he was sold for NZ$300,000 to Hong Kong buyer Mr F Lui. He earned an impressive HK$167 million in winnings. Equivalant to over 122 times his purchase price. 

 

Callsign Mav - G1 Sir Rupert Clark Stakes 

CALLSIGN MAV (NZ)

Multiple Group One winner Callsign Mav (NZ) (Atlante) was presented by Windsor Park Stud at the 2017 National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale. He was sold for NZ$3000 to Ms EL Holmes where he has since won A$1,469,366 in earnings. Equivalant to a whopping 520 times his purchase price.
