218 Unreserved Lots at the NZB May Sale

28 April 2011

The 2011 National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale (2-4 May) will see 218 lots being offered on an unreserved basis, with unreserved drafts from Goodwood Stud, The Oaks Stud and Waikato Stud, in addition to Dormello Stud's Unreserved Dispersal Sale of 119 horses.

NZB Co-Managing Director Andrew Seabrook says these offerings give buyers confidence to bid and buy.

"A number of studs have demonstrated at previous May Sales that by offering their stock for genuine unreserved sale they have attracted some very good demand. Buyers can bid and buy with confidence, benefitting both buyer and seller, and it means there will be some great opportunities for some very savvy purchasing next week."

After Dormello Stud, Waikato Stud has the largest offering with 30 weanlings and 16 broodmares set to go under the auctioneer's hammer.

Waikato Stud's owner Garry Chittick says the May Sale is an important part of their operation and offers buyers some fantastic buying opportunities.

"Waikato Stud has had a tradition of selling on an unreserved basis in the May Sale for the last three or four years," explained Chittick.

"We are a large operation and we retain only the numbers that we can handle.

"We go through this numbers process each year and, as a result, we annually present a selection of individuals who are genuinely offered for sale on an unreserved basis."

"Our draft this year has some nice horses available for buyers and they are all by successful stallions."

Among Waikato Stud's 46-strong draft includes:

Three entries by Pins, the sire of the Hong Kong star and Hong Kong Derby winner Ambitious Dragon, Group 2 winners Lucha Libre and Icepin, Group 3 winner Antonio Lombardo and stakes winners Almodovar and Bespoke.
