A Proven Record of Success
29 October 2015
The upcoming New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds is the most successful sale of its kind in Australasia with a proven record of success.
The NZB Ready to Run Sale is in it's 35 year and graduates have achieved 107 stakes win in the past six seasons.
NZB’s Ready to Run Sale claimed four times the number of Group wins of any comparable sale in the past three seasons, among those wins were 12 Group 1 races , yet no other auction house can claim a Group 1 winning graduate from a two-year-old sale over that time.
Last season’s Group 1 winners include Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor), New Zealand’s Horse of the Year and winner of both the Group 1 New Zealand Derby and the Group 1 Australian Derby. Returning as a four-year-old, Mongolian Khan went to greater heights with victory in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup this season.
Mongolian Khan’s stablemate Turn Me Loose (NZ) (Iffraaj) won the Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas last season and has also made an impression in Melbourne during the Spring Carnival, winning the Group 2 Schweppes Crystal Mile.
Turn Me Loose was the second successive graduate to be victorious in the Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas following the win of Atlante (Fastnet Rock) in 2013.
The third Group 1 winner for the Sale last season was Gaultier (NZ) (Rios), triumphing in the Group 1 Levin Classic. A great example of the value that can be found at the Sale, Gaultier earned over eight times his purchase price of $17,500 in his first season of racing.
International performer El Padrino (NZ) (Mr. Nancho) is a multiple stakes winner in Singapore and performed internationally as well. El Padrino has won the last two runnings of the Sgp-3 Merlion Trophy along with victory in this year’s Sgp-3 Woodland’s Handicap.
El Padrino took to the international racing scene, winning the Asia Challenge Cup in South Korea, the first international invitational race in that country. The son of Mr. Nancho was also invited to Dubai where he finished fourth in the Group 1 Meydan Dubai Golden Shaheen.
Among stakes winning alumni of the Sale to win in Singapore last season was Absolutely (NZ) (Coats Choice), in the Sgp-3 Three Rings Trophy, and Faaltless (Faaltat), in the Sgp-3 Garden City Trophy.
The presence of graduates in Macau and Malaysia has also been noted with four individual winners last season winning five stakes races.
Winning two Listed races in Malaysia was kiwi galloper Balotelli (NZ) (My Halo). He was joined by Yousingwedance (NZ) (Danasinga) as a stakes winner in Malaysia. In Macau, Bobo So Cute (NZ) and Mission Well (NZ) (Elusive City) both earned their first black-type successes.
The new racing season has already yielded six stakes wins for NZB Ready to Run Sale graduates. Mongolian Khan added the Group 1 Caulfield Cup to his impressive race record while Turn Me Loose not only won the Group 2 Schweppes Crystal Mile, he was also captured the Listed Seymour Cup.
This weekend’s Group 1 Victoria Derby will feature Sale graduate Extra Choice (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice), the winner of the Listed Geelong Classic. He will be looking to replicate the deeds of NZB Ready to Run Sale graduate Sangster (NZ) (Savabeel) who won the Group 1 Victoria Derby in 2012.
Also winners at stakes level this season are Tyne Cot (NZ) (Keeper) in New Zealand and Dragon Fury (NZ) (Sufficient) in Singapore.
The 2015 NZB Ready to Run Sale has attracted a catalogue of 397 two-year-olds. Each horse was given the opportunity to Breeze Up with the final 200m of their work timed and filmed. Breeze Up clips can be viewed online.
