Another Debut Winner for NZB RTR Sale
3 September 2008
Within days of one NZB Ready to Run sale debut winner clair Fantastic in Australia, there's already another, with Elusive City son Marne putting in an impressive performance to seal his first start atGeelong for John Sadler yesterday.
Marne (Elusive City x Giuliana, by Zabeel) was purchased from last year's Ready to Run Sale at Karaka by Graeme Rogerson for $155,000, and is raced by Lloyd Williams, his wife Susie and son Nick. Bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan at Cambridge Stud, Marne was sold as a yearling through the Karaka Select Sale and purchased by astute bloodstock agent Phil Cataldo for a client who then put him through Phoenix Park's Ready to Run Sale draft.
There have already beenover 40 individual winners from the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale in the past month (since 1 August 2008). Amongst them are seven in Australia and an impressive nine in Singapore including another winner on debut, Ready for Success (More Than Ready x Oaks Room).
The gun start to the new season by New Zealand's Ready to Run Sale graduates follows a sensational run of success that saw three individual Group 1 winners from that Sale last season alone.
The three Group 1 winning graduates across the Tasman started with Eskimo Queen (Shinko King x Cold Type) securing her second Group 1 victory for training partners Mike & Paul Moroney in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) in April. Next came Mr Baritone (Stravinsky x Tunisia), another Moroney trained runner, who won the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in June, followed just two days later by Rockdale (Danroad x Komplete Kaos) winner of the TJ Smith (1600m) for John Morrisey and Gundaroo Stud.
And ifthree Group 1 winners last season wasn't enough, it came on the back of four from the previous season with Magic Cape, Donna Rosita and Able One, plus the first of Eskimo Queen's two Group 1 victories.
This year's Ready to Run Sale is scheduled for the 18 & 19 November at Karaka, with Breeze Ups taking place on 20 & 21 October at Te Rapa racecourse. Catalogues will be available from 29 September.
