Another HK Star for Zabeel

Zabeel is renowned in Hong Kong as the sire of champion stayer Vengeance of Rain, but he has a new star on the rise in the shape of Karaka Premier Sale graduate Packing Winner, who set a new course record in winning the 1800 metre Class Two event at Sha Tin on Monday

A winner at his first run back this season on September 15, the Peter Ho trained Packing Winner demolished the opposition in streaking clear to win by nearly four lengths in record time of 1:46.20.

Patiently handled, the five year-old has now won five of 10 starts and looks primed for a big season.

Packing Winner was purchased by Dominion Bloodstock at the 2004 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale, secured from the draft of Cambridge Stud for NZ$300,000.

He is the first foal of the Marscay mare Musical Note, a minor winner and half-sister to stakes-winners Adagietto and Captiva.
