Darci Brahma Success Continues
17 December 2012
With his progeny running hot, young sire Darci Brahma picked up his sixth stakes winner at Te Rapa on Saturday with Sir Lovesalot (NZ) winning the $50,000 Listed Shaw’s Wire Ropes Sprint (1400m).
In a field stacked with talent, Sir Lovesalot (Darci Brahma x Sound Lover) had to be at the top of his game after drawing barrier nine and posted wide and on the speed early in the race.
Sir Lovesalot is the sixth stakes winner for Darci Brahma |
In a good ride from Mark Du Plessis, he managed to get the four-year-old to settle just behind the speed in a lovely position and the pair held off the advances of Spin Doctor (Pins) and Shandream (Pins) to win by a length in a Karaka trifecta.
Trained by Donna & Dean Logan, Sir Lovesalot has now won five of his 11 career starts and came into the race off the back of a good win at Counties in much the same fashion, racing on the pace and kicking away in the finish.
Bred and sold by Little Avondale Stud, Sir Lovesalot was purchased by IDL Racing Ltd at the 2010 Karaka Premier Sale for $220,000. He is owned by Thoroughbred Investments & Trading Strategies Ltd and has earned just under $80,000 in stakes.
Darci Brahma had a top November siring 25 individual winners in NZ, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has made a great start to the season courtesy of Darci be Good winning the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup in Sydney, Nashville winning the Group 2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile and Super Easy winning the Sgp-3 Jumbo Jet Trophy.
