Dozens of Drawcards in NZB Ready to Run Sale Catalogue
16 September 2025

As the NZB Ready to Run Sale goes from strength to strength with its stunning results in the sale ring and on the racetrack, the catalogue for the world’s leading sale of two-year-olds continues to get better and better.
The 2025 edition of the Ready to Run Sale marks the latest step in that upward trend, with an exceptional 480-lot catalogue that is stacked with high-class pedigrees.
Group One Dams
Progeny of Group One-winning mares have become commonplace in the Ready to Run Sale in recent years, notably with two of the three highest-priced lots 12 months ago.
Last year’s $1.65m sale-topper Hostility (I Am Invincible) is a son of the Cantala Stakes (1600m) and Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) heroine Shillelagh (NZ) (Savabeel), while $675,000 colt Hidden Achievement is by I Am Invincible out of the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) winner (La) Luna Rossa (NZ) (Written Tycoon). Both of those colts went on to be Group One placegetters themselves as two-year-olds last season.
More of that Group One parentage is available for buyers in 2025, where the catalogue features the progeny of four Group One-winning mares, and a further 76 stakes-performed mares.
Lot 349 is by Written Tycoon out of Foxplay (Foxwedge), who won five races including the Group One Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m), Group Two Phar Lap Stakes (1500m), Group Two Furious Stakes (1200m) and Group Two Tea Rose Stakes (1400m).
Foxplay also placed in the Group One George Main Stakes (1600m) and was runner-up behind the legendary Winx (Street Cry) in a photo finish to the Group Two (now Group One) Warwick Stakes (1400m). She was a fourth placegetter in the Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m), Thousand Guineas (1600m) and Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).
Lot 219 is by Saxon Warrior out of Anabandana (Anabaa), who was New Zealand’s Champion 2YO in 2010-11. She won the Group One Diamond Stakes (1200m), Group One Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), Group Two Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) and Group Three Eclipse Stakes (1200m). As a three-year-old, Anabandana went on to win the Group Three Gold Trail Stakes (1200m) and place in the Group One New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) and Listed (now Group Three) Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m).

Anabandana is already the dam of four winners from four foals to race, including Group Two winner Packing Rockstar (Fastnet Rock) and Listed winner Anavinci (I Am Invincible).
Lot 279 is by Tagaloa out of Consensus (NZ) (Postponed), who won 11 races including six at black-type level. That list is headed by the Group One Zabeel Classic (2000m) at Ellerslie, along with the Group Two Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley. Consensus is the dam of two foals to race, and both have been winners in Australia.
