Entries Open for 2020 South Island & Karaka May Sale 

Entries for New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2020 South Island Sale and 2020 Karaka May Sale are now open. The South Island Sale will take place at the Canterbury Agricultural Park on 17 April this year while the Karaka May Sale will see the first horses go through the ring at Karaka on Thursday 14 May through until the conclusion on Friday 15 May. 

While yearlings at the South Island Sale and Karaka May Sale remain eligible to be nominated for the lucrative Karaka Million Series, The upcoming 2020 Karaka May Sale will unveil a major enhancement to the weanling session, with all weanlings offered now eligible to be nominated for the Karaka Million Series.

The Series for weanlings purchased at the Sale will consist of the $1 million Karaka Million 2YO in 2022 and the $1 million Karaka Million 3YO Classic in 2023, plus the $100,000 CollinsonForex Karaka Cup for the remainder of their career. 

With the 13th running of the Karaka Million 2YO taking place this year, the Series will now become more accessible for those purchasing any Yearling from a New Zealand Bloodstock Sale and any Weanling from the Karaka May Sale. 

NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook is enthusiastic about the new incentive.

“It will provide buyers another opportunity to invest in stock that they can target the two $1 million races with at New Zealand’s richest race meeting,” Seabrook said.
