Favourite En Lauder (NZ) Wins Selangor Feature
22 August 2016
En Lauder (NZ) (Zabeel), a graduate of the Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka, picked up a feature win in yesterday’s Listed Rgt. 320,000 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor (2000m) in Malaysia.
The favourite in the 15-horse field, En Lauder was ridden by Jackson Low for trainer Richard Lines. He came from midfield with a strong finishing burst to narrowly beat Super Five (Sebring) and Mr Armstrong (Dylan Thomas) in an exciting finish.
The win was the first stakes success for En Lauder and his fifth win overall from 20 starts.
En Lauder is one of two winners from three foals to race for the Last Tycoon mare Berlin Tango, whose dam Humour (Sadler’s Wells) is a half-sister to the successful sire Danasinga (Danehill) and also to the Group One winner Tracy’s Element (Last Tycoon), dam of the 2009-10 Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy (Red Ransom).
Bred by Cambridge Stud’s Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, En Lauder was offered as part of the Cambridge Stud draft at the 2012 Premier Yearling Sale and was sold to Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis for $140,000.
