Fillies Super Bonus Jackpots To $50,000
22 April 2004
Goldsinga (Danasinga x Donna's Gold) and Triple Time (Gold Brose x Mazurka) are the only eligible contenders for the $50,000 bonus, as the only starters who are Karaka sales graduates enrolled in the Mercedes Super Bonus Scheme. They will compete against a field of smart fillies for in this valuable black type event. Both fillies have picked up some trial form at Cambridge recently. The Robert Priscott-trained Triple Time ran first of eight, covering a 1000m in 59.5 and winning by two-and-one-half lengths. Goldsinga, trained by the Moroney-Scott partnership ran third of five in her qualifying trial and has drawn one, which is always an advantage in a 1000m event.
The field also includes some impressive fillies that have already had some race success. The Jim Gibbs-trained Darcybee (Fasliyev x Eminent Walk) has started twice finishing second on her first outing at Paeroa and winning by two and three-quarter lengths two weeks ago at Te Aroha. Enthralling (Volksraad x Captivating), from the Rogerson & Autridge stable, has also done well in her first two outings running a place at Rotorua followed by a win at Otaki two weeks ago. Another hopeful from the Rogerson & Autridge Stable is the Danzero filly Primera Dama (Danzero x Velita) who finished second to Darcybee at her first start.
The last Mercedes Super Bonus Series Fillies Jackpot of $50,000 was struck by the Paul O'Sullivan-trained Prickle (Pins x Snobbish) at Wellington in December.
Sunday's Listed event was taken out last year by smart filly Pay My Bail (Justice Prevails x Ebony Jane). Placegetters in the event were Salsa (O'Reilly x Ungaro) who claimed second and Rapid Kay (Towkay x Racing Waters) who finished in third position.
