Final Farewell From Fayette at Spring Sale
12 July 2005
Following Fayette Park Stud's complete weanling dispersal at this year's May Sale, Fayette have confirmed they will be offering the remainder of their mares at this year's Spring Sale at Karaka.
Fayette Park Stud principal, David Benjamin commented, "Sadly we are moving into the final phase of closing down operations at Fayette Park with the dispersal of fourteen mares at the Spring Sale. We have had great pleasure and success throughout our years in the industry, with many of these families in particular. There are some lovely mares in the selection and we hope they will be very rewarding for their prospective owners.
It has not been an easy decision to sell, however in the interests of both Masey's and my health, we are taking a much-needed break and are looking forward to this opportunity to do that."
Fayette Park Stud was awarded the prestigious title of New Zealand Breeder of the Year in 2001 and 2002 with three Group 1 winners Elevenses, Hail and Bodie.
The 14 broodmares offered in this year's Spring Sale include:
Fayette (Grosvenor): A seven-time winning mare by successful broodmare sire Grosvenor. Fayette's first foal by Align was sold as a weanling at Karaka for $90,000. She is believed to be in foal to first season sire, Spartacus.
Fly So Free (Jugah): Group 2 placed at two, this mare has left three winners from four to race. She is believed to be in foal to Postponed.
Our Rosalee (Conquistarose): With two stakeswinners in The Mighty Finn (McGinty) and Fifty Fifty (Justice Prevails) her last weanling filly by Don Eduardo was sold at this year's National Weanling & Broodmare Sale at Karaka for $40,000.
Precious Princess (Precocious): Placed at two in Great Britain, she is a three-quarter sister to Elbio, a multiple Group 2 winner in Europe. Both her foals to race have been winners, and her last weanling colt by O'Reilly was sold at this year's May Sale for $29,000.
Smooch (Rory's Jester): She is believed to be in foal to first season sire, Don Eduardo. Her weanling filly by Postponed sold at last year's May Sale for $28,000.
Tough Call (Val Dansant): This stakeswinning mare has left two winners from two to race. Her weanling filly by Don Eduardo was sold at this year's May Sale for $47,500. She is believed to be in foal to Don Eduardo again.
Fayette Park's draft also includes mares by Thunder Gulch, Tale of the Cat and Stark South, and covering sires include Don Eduardo, Postponed, Spartacus and Thorn Park.
