Flying Fulton Caps Off Great Month for NZB Ready to Run Sale

3 December 2012

Friday night’s Sgp-3 Colonial Chief Stakes (1700m) saw Flying Fulton cap off a brilliant November for NZB’s Ready to Run Sale becoming the fourth graduate to win at stakes level last month alone.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2012 Ready to Run Sale saw many of last year’s record results broken in the same month that graduates Kullu (Elvstroem) and Nashville (Darci Brahma) claimed stakes and group victories in Christchurch, and Glorious Days (Hussonet) took the Group 2 Jockey Club Mile in Hong Kong.

Friday night’s race saw Flying Fulton (Flying Spur x Fulton) given a great ride by apprentice jockey Shafiq Rizuan. Settling in fifth in transit, Rizuan was patient and waited until the six-year-old had balanced up in the straight before unleashing his big finish and the pair raced away to a two length victory.

The stakes victory was Flying Fulton’s fifth and trainer Mark Walker was pleased with his performance.

“He just loves the Polytrack,” said Walker. “He’s got a great record on it but he’s also been a terrific horse for us here in Singapore right from day one.”

Flying Fulton has proven a top performer in Singapore with Friday night’s victory bringing up his 11th win. His other feature victories include the Sgp-3 Polytrack Mile Championship, Sgp-3 New Year Cup, Sgp-3 Committee's Prize and Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes in New Zealand at age two.

Bred by Tony & Joe Bongiorno, Flying Fulton was offered by Trelawney Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2008 Karaka Premier Sale. He was then offered by Mana Park at NZB’s 2008 Ready to Run Sale where he was purchased by David Ellis for $210,000.

Raced by the Te Akau Racing Stable, Flying Fulton has now won 11 of his 49 career starts for over $1 million in stakes.
