Force Of Nature (NZ) Another New Stakes Winner for NZB Ready to Run Sale

A few days out from the start of the 2025 NZB Ready to Run Sale at Karaka, another new stakes winner has been added to the roll of honour for the world’s leading sale of two-year-olds. 

Force Of Nature (NZ) (Savabeel) won the $100,000 Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint (1200m) at Pukekohe on Saturday, improving his career record to 11 starts for six wins, three placings and $182,010 in stakes. He was offered at the 2022 Ready to Run Sale but failed to meet his $150,000 reserve.

Breeder Tony Rider has retained Force Of Nature to race in his black, gold and red colours, and the talented gelding is trained by Andrew Forsman at Cambridge.

Freshened after having a minor issue when unplaced in his first appearance of the season back in August, Force Of Nature made a stylish return to action on Saturday and claimed the biggest win of his promising career.

Force Of Nature drew the inside gate and apprentice jockey Triston Moodley put that to good use, taking up an ideal position tucked in along the rail just behind the front-runner I’munstoppable (NZ) (Charm Spirit).

That runner rolled off the fence after turning into the home straight, and Moodley drove Force Of Nature through that gap. He quickened smartly to dash into contention, then dug deep to edge out the Group One-performed mare Jaarffi (NZ) (Iffraaj) in a tight battle to the finish. The 1200 metres were run in a quick 1:09.30.

“I thought he might be a little vulnerable late, because it has been quite a while since he has had a run, so credit to the team at home for having him right,” Forsman said.

“It was a very game effort and he is a talented horse, so hopefully he can come through this well and we can press on.

“We haven’t plotted out a path beyond today, because this was the race we wanted to have him spot-on for.

“He is now a stakes winner, which is important for Tony because he is breeding from the family, so it’s a massive result. It is a good feather in his cap, so hopefully he can go on with it.”

NZB’s 2025 Ready to Run Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 10am (NZT) on Wednesday 12 & Thursday 13 November.
