Freshman Sires Abundant at NZB Ready to Run Sale

Buyers will have the chance to inspect the first crops of 19 sires at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds next week (18 & 19 November).

Sires standing across Australia and New Zealand with their eldest crop in the Sale include Bullbars, Cape Blanco, Dalghar, Echoes of Heaven, Ego, Foxwedge, Helmet, Jimmy Choux, Master of Design, Pluck, Poet’s Voice, Pour Moi, Redwood, Sepoy, Skilled, Smart Missile, So You Think, Trusting and Zacinto.

Bullbars (Elusive Quality x Accessories, by Singspiel)
A Group 3 winning three-year-old, Bullbars is a half-brother to Group 1 winners Helmet and Epaulette, both now standing at stud. The son of Champion Sire Elusive Quality stands at Highview Stud.

Bullbars has five sons catalogued in the NZB Ready to Run Sale including Lot 178, a half-brother to Australian stakes winner Saigon Tea (NZ) (Thorn Park) and is out of stakes winning mare Boulevardofdreams (Daggers Drawn).

Cape Blanco (Galileo x Laurel Delight, by Presidium)
A son of one of the most influential sires in the world currently in Galileo, Cape Blanco won five Group 1 races in Ireland and America including the Irish Derby. He shuttled to Cambridge Stud with his first crop of yearlings selling for up to $450,000.

With the largest draft of first season sires in the Sale, Cape Blanco has 11 two-year-olds catalogued including Lot 372, a half-brother to three Group 1 winners in Headturner (Anabaa), O’Marilyn (O’Reilly) and Anacheeva (Anabaa).

Dalghar (Anabaa x Daltawa, by Miswaki)
A Group 3 winning sprinter/miler who won the Group 3 Longchamp Prix du Palais-Royal in France over 1400 in record time. By Anabaa, Dalghar is a half-brother to successful sires Daylami and Dalakhani. Standing at Brighthill Farm, he has already produced a winner this year.

Dalghar will be represented by two horses including Lot 122, a half-brother to dual Group 3 winner Coup Bloomsbury (Centaine).

Echoes of Heaven (Encosta de Lago x Shantha’s Choice, by Canny Lad)
A stakes winning son of Champion Sire Encosta de Lago, Echoes of Heaven was runner-up in the Group 1 South Australian Derby. He is a full-brother to the Group 1 winning sire Manhattan Rain, and is a half-brother to Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice. Standing at Linwood Park, he has already produced a two-year-old winner this season in New Zealand.

There are two entries by Echoes of Heaven catalogued – Lot 28 is a half-brother to Question Mark (Any Suggestion), fourth placed in the Listed Southland Guineas, and Lot 259, from the same family as dual Group 1 winner Our Flight (Imperial Guard).

Ego (E Dubai x Buckling, by Redoute’s Choice)
Winner of the Group 2 Concorde Handicap among his six career wins as a sprinter, Ego is a son of E Dubai out of a daughter of Redoute’s Choice. Standing at Haunui Farm.

Ego has one entry in the NZB Ready to Run Sale, Lot 80 – a colt who is out of a half-sister to stakes winner Princess Pulse (King of Kings).

Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock x Forest Native, by Forest Wildcat)
A Group 1 winning sprinter, Foxwedge defeated a high-class field of Australia’s best sprinters in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes as a three-year-old. Foxwedge is by Australia’s hottest sire Fastnet Rock. Standing at Newgate Farm, his first yearlings sold this year for up to A$560,000.

Foxwedge will be represented by six two-year-olds at the Sale including Lot 38, a colt out of Group 1 winner Rostova (Testa Rossa), winner of the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Helmet (Exceed and Excel x Accessories, by Singspiel)
Group 1 winner of the stallion making race – the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas. By Exceed and Excel, Helmet is a half-brother to Group 1 winner and sire Epaulette and Group 3 winning sire Bullbars. Standing at Darley Australia.

Helmet has one entry in the Sale, Lot 142 – a half-brother to dual Listed winner Excelorada (Exceed and Excel).

Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park x Cierzo, by Centaine)
Five-time Group 1 winner and New Zealand Horse of the Year, Jimmy Choux won Group 1 races on both sides of the Tasman. A classic three-year-old, the son of Champion Sire Thorn Park won three of his Group 1 wins during his three-year-old season. Standing at Rich Hill Stud, he has already sired a winner this season.

Jimmy Choux has five of his progeny entered in the Sale including Lot 233, a colt out of stakes winning mare Dominatrix (Marauding).

Master of Design (Redoute’s Choice x Urge to Merg, by Last Tycoon)
Group 1 winner of the TJ Smith Stakes, Master of Design is the only son of Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice standing at stud to win at Group 1 level in weight-for-age company. He is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Suntagonal. Standing at Swettenham Stud, he has already produced an Australian stakes placegetter this season.

Master of Design has one horse entered in the Sale, Lot 164 – a colt out of a full-sister to dual Group 2 winner Noircir (Bureaucracy).

Pluck (More Than Ready x Secret Heart, by Fort Wood)
A son of successful sire More Than Ready, a proven sire of two-year-olds, Pluck won three races as a juvenile, including the Group 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Stakes in spectacular fashion. Standing at Vinery Stud.

Pluck has two horses to be offered at the Sale – Lot 66 is out of a Dubawi mare Spirit of Karlu, and Lot 392 who is out of a half-sister to stakes winner Thump (Red Ransom).

Poet’s Voice (Dubawi x Bright Tiara, by Chief’s Crown)
A stakes winner at two in the Group 2 Doncaster Champagne Stakes, Poet’s Voice went on to win the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth ll Stakes at Ascot as a three-year-old. He is a son of Dubawi, one of the most preeminent sires in the world today. Standing at Darley Australia, he has already produced two stakes winners in the northern hemisphere after commencing stud duties in Great Britain in 2012.

Poet’s Voice has a single entry in the NZB Ready to Run Sale, Lot 250 – a colt out of Commands mare Eye One.

Pour Moi (Montjeu x Gwynn, by Darshaan)
Group 1 Epsom Derby winner in England for Coolmore, Pour Moi is by Champion Sire Montjeu who has been a successful sire in both hemispheres. Shuttled to Windsor Park Stud, he has already sired a two-year-old stakes winner in England and produced a winner in New Zealand.

Three two-year-olds by Pour Moi are catalogued in the Sale including Lot 365, a colt out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Kibbutz (Golan).

Redwood (High Chaparral x Arum Lily, by Woodman)
An international Group 1 winning son of successful sire High Chaparral – the sire of NZ’s dual hemisphere champion So You Think – Redwood was the winner of the Group 1 Woodbine Northern Dancer Turf Stakes. Standing at Westbury Stud, his yearlings sold for up to $210,000.

Redwood will be represented by five two-year-olds at the Sale including Lot 119, a gelding out of winning mare Wahaha (Stravinsky), a half-sister to four-time Group 1 winner Wall Street (Montjeu).

Sepoy (Elusive Quality x Watchful, by Danehill)
A brilliant Group 1 juvenile, Sepoy captured the elusive Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes and Group 1 Golden Slipper double. The son of Elusive Quality trained on to win two more Group 1 sprints as a three-year-old. Standing at Darley Australia, his first crop of yearlings sold for up to A$1,600,000.

There are two entries by Sepoy in the Sale including Lot 89, a colt out of stakes winning mare Ten Churros (High Brite), and Lot 383, a colt out of stakes placegetter Night at the Opera (Good Journey).

Skilled (Commands x Dextrous, by Quest for Fame)
A Group 1 winner at two, Skilled won the Group 1 Champagne Stakes and was runner-up in the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes. He is by perennial sire of winners Commands, standing at Darley Australia.

Skilled has two sons catalogued in the Sale including Lot 11, a colt out of a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 winner The Pooka (Tobougg), and Lot 390, a half-brother to four winners.

Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock x Comical Smile, by Comic Strip)
Unbeaten as a two-year-old, Smart Missile won the Group 2 Todman Slipper Stakes beating Sepoy – the only horse to beat Sepoy as a two-year-old. He is by Australia’s hottest sire Fastnet Rock. Standing at Arrowfield Stud, he has already produced a two-year-old winner this season.

Four two-year-olds by Smart Missile are catalogued in the Sale including Lot 290, a half-brother to Listed winner in Macau, Sacred Hustler (Hussonet).

So You Think (High Chaparral x Triassic, by Tights)
Champion New Zealand-bred galloper, So You Think won 10 Group 1 races across both hemispheres including two Group 1 Cox Plates. He retired as the highest rated son of High Chaparral. Standing at Coolmore Australia, So You Think was leading first season sire by average (three or more sold) at this year’s NZB National Yearling Sales Series, selling up to $420,000.

So You Think has three colts entered in the Sale including Lot 374, a half-brother to stakes winner Biscayne Bay (Stravinsky).

Trusting (Tale of the Cat x Legible, by Zabeel)
A Group 2 winner on three occasions, the son of Tale of the Cat, Trusting, was runner-up three times at Group 1 level, including the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes. Standing at Turangga Farm.

A sole entry will represent Trusting at the Sale, Lot 251 – a colt out of winning Danasinga mare Fairy Gumnut.

Zacinto (Dansili x Ithaca, by Distant View)
A Group 2 winner as a three-year-old, Zacinto finished second to Rip Van Winkle in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth ll Stakes at Royal Ascot during his classic season. He is by Dansili, a leading sire of international Group 1 winners. Standing at Inglewood Stud.

Three two-year-olds will represent Zacino at the Sale including Lot 94, a colt out of a half-sister to stakes winners Tale of a Champion (Tale of the Cat) and Ilusora (Tale of the Cat).
