G.1 New Zealand Oaks to $400,000

New Zealand Bloodstock's Filly of the Year Series has received yet another boost with the announcement that the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks will receive a $100,000 stake increase to $400,000.

The Wellington Racing Club has signed a new commercial partnership agreement with Wellington based property company Gillies Group to sponsor their premier Group 1 fillies' classic next year - the final race in the 2007/8 New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series.

Wellington Racing Club President Mike Brown said the Club was delighted to have the Gillies Group on board at Trentham.

"The Gillies Group is a very successful business, with a strong links to Upper Hutt, the home of Trentham. The Gillies Group Ltd is involved in real estate, property management, construction, finance and large scale property development and we are looking forward to building a successful partnership with their principal Malcolm Gillies and our Club."

The announcement brings the total stake increases across the ten-race Series to $250,000 for the coming season.
