The last stakes race of the day at Matamata on Saturday was the Listed Marks Ewen & Associates Kaimai Stakes, which was won by Guarantor (NZ) (Howbaddouwantit). An outstanding come-from-behind win, setting a new track record, has put him on course for next month’s Group 1 Auckland Cup.
A son of the Kinjite mare Eva Kinte, Guarantor was bred by Peter Tennant, who offered him at the 2011 Festival Yearling at Karaka.
