Half-Brother to Fontelina at Karaka 2016
14 December 2015
The impressive win of Fontelina (Testa Rossa) on Saturday in the A$175,500 Listed BRC Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben has added further depth to the pedigree of his half-brother catalogued at Karaka 2016.
A half-brother by Swiss Ace to Fontelina is catalogued at Lot 247 in the Karaka Premier Sale from Westbury Stud.
Already a dual winner of the Group 2 Yellowglen Stakes, Fontelina has also been twice Group 1 placed along with winning two other stakes races.
The seven-year-old gelding recently transferred to Tony Gollan from Anthony Cummings' stable and recorded his first win since his second victory in the Group 2 Yellowglen Stakes at Flemington in November, 2013
Fontelina entered the race in good form having finished third in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes in late November.
Ridden by leading Queensland jockey Jim Byrne, Fontelina settled on the rail in fourth position for much of the race before bursting onto the scene to beat Saluter (Commands) by one and three-quarters of a length.
Owned by R Willis, G Harvey & M Buys, Fontelina has now earned over A$1 million from 34 career starts, including seven wins.
