Indecision (NZ) Impressive Under Big Weight
26 December 2018
Premier Sale graduate Indecision (NZ) (Per Incanto) faced a tough task in the $60,000 Listed Hallmark Stud Handicap (1200m) at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, but she made it look easy and recorded the third black-type win of her career.
The five-year-old carried a hefty 60-kilogram topweight, four kilograms more than any other runner. Her assignment looked even more daunting on a Heavy10 track that jockeys were describing as “testing” and “hard work”.
But Indecision’s class carried her through, and in the end she did it with ease. Rider Leith Innes sent her straight to the lead, and she kicked powerfully in the straight to win by two and a half lengths.
“She’s a very good mare when she gets her own way in front,” trainer Tony Pike said.
“I could tell today she was travelling well on the home corner and it was a brave win on a heavy track with 60 kilograms.”
Indecision was a $220,000 purchase at the 2015 Premier Sale. Raced by S L Malcolm, Mrs C N and Ms J Taylor, Faith Taylor, Brent and Cherry Taylor, she has now had 22 starts for six wins, six placings and $152,525 in stakes.
This was her third black-type win, following the Listed NZB Finance Sprint (1200m) in April and the Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint (1200m) at Te Rapa last month.
Indecision headed a trifecta for Little Avondale Stud stallion Per Incanto, with Santa Monica (NZ) (Per Incanto) second and Rocanto (NZ) (Per Incanto) third.
Per Incanto has 41 yearlings catalogued for Karaka 2019, with 18 in Book 1, 21 in Book 2 and two in Book 3.
