Karaka Carnival Sale Catalogues Out Now
7 February 2007
Fresh from the record-breaking results of the 81st National Yearling Sales Series at Karaka, there is still one opportunity left to secure yearlings in New Zealand with catalogues for the inaugural Karaka Carnival Sale now available.
The one-day Karaka Carnival Sale, scheduled for Friday 9 March, is New Zealand Bloodstock's newest addition to its sales calendar and is set to add an exciting extra dimension to the Auckland Racing Club's March Carnival.
Auckland Racing Club's Chief Executive, Chris Weaver, says the Club is delighted by the latest feature on the Auckland Cup Carnival's events calendar, "Our goal is to make Cup Week the pinnacle event of the racing calendar, so the addition of New Zealand Bloodstock's Sale within that week only heightens our ability to do that. I have no doubt there will be huge interest from both Auckland City and the racing industry."
As an extra incentive for buyers, Carnival Sale graduates are eligible to enter to win a $100,000 bonus at Ellerslie next year.
Scheduled for New Zealand Derby Day in 2008, the Carnival Sale Bonus Race will offer a $100,000 bonus to the first Carnival Sale graduate home, even if they run last. This means that even if there is only one graduate in the race, the bonus will be struck. Of the $100,000 bonus, the vendor of the winning yearling also shares in the spoils with a cheque for $10,000 from New Zealand Bloodstock.
The Carnival Sale will feature 259 lots by over 70 well-credentialed local and international sires. Amongst these are Faltaat (4), Montjeu (3), O'Reilly (3), Pentire (1), Pins (9), Stravinsky (5) and Volksraad (7), plus promising sires Black Minnaloushe (7), No Excuse Needed (7) and Postponed (4).
Australian-based sires such as Danasinga (5), Fantastic Light (3), Flying Spur (1), More Than Ready (2), Royal Academy (1) and Testa Rossa (2) are also represented.
