Korea Hosts NZ Breeders' Delegation
1 June 2006
New Zealand representatives have just returned from a successful trip to Korea, where the Korean Racing Association (KRA) and Korean Thoroughbred Breeders Association (KTBA) invited industry experts to share knowledge and information about breeding practices in the New Zealand thoroughbred industry.
The Korean Breeders Seminar was hosted on Jeju Island, the heart of the Korean breeding industry. New Zealand Bloodstock General Manager, Andrew Seabrook, led the delegation of industry participants, and was joined in Korea by the New Zealand Ambassador to Korea, Ms Jane Coombs, NZ Trade Commissioner, Mr Andrew French, and NZ Trade & Enterprise Senior Manager, Mr Chul-Min Cho.

Andrew Seabrook commented, "The New Zealand industry is continuing to forge excellent relationships with breeders and racing officials in Korea, and it was an honour to be invited to speak about the industry in New Zealand. We spoke to local breeders about a range of topics from breeding techniques and nutrition, to education and sales opportunities. It was a valuable opportunity to share our knowledge and identify where we may be able to offer further help in the future."
"We were also very grateful for the assistance of the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise representatives in Korea, who were instrumental in making the visit such a success. Our sincere thanks also to the New Zealand Ambassador and Trade Commissioner for joining us on the day."
Mr Seabrook was joined on the trip by Michael Martin, Chief Executive of the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Association, John Bell, International Sales Manager for The Great Hage Company, and Chang Sig Kim, Korean Bloodstock representative for NZ Bloodstock in Korea.
