29 October 2012
The formerly New Zealand raced Encosta de Lago five-year-old Don Louis - Luen Yat Everwin took his first stakes victory on Saturday night in Macau’s M$700,000 Autumn Trophy (1600m).
Beginning his career in New Zealand under the nameDon Louis for trainer Shane Crawford, Luen Yat Everwin (Encosta de Lago x Snowdonia) broke his maiden at his second start at Taranaki in January last year and had a total of five races in New Zealand before being taken to Macau.
Trained by P C Choi and raced by Chan Chi Ming, the five-year-old has proven a good purchase as he has raced his way to a further six wins in Macau, including a placing in the Listed Macau Winter Trophy in January.
Luen Yat Everwin is the 92nd stakes winner for his sire Encosta de Lago and the second New Zealand bred stakes winner in Macau this season with Wealthy Man (Danzighill) winning the Listed Macau Directors’ Cup (1500m).
Bred by Legacy Lands Limited, Luen Yat Everwin was purchased by J & I Bloodstock Ltd from Raewyn Groube’s Tamgaly NZ at the 2009 Karaka Premier Sale for $85,000.
