Mark Todd and NZB Campino Triumph at Hartpury
22 August 2010
New Zealand Equestrian Mark Todd has showcased his remarkable talent yet again with a win on NZB Campino at the Hartpury Horse Trials in Gloucestershire which took place 12 - 15 August.
New Zealand Bloodstock Ltd, who sponsored Mark's campaign to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, continues to support him in his next Olympic quest for the Games in London 2012.
The 1984 and 1988 Olympic individual three-day event gold medallist rode NZB Campino to victory in the CCI** class, being one of only four riders to complete on their dressage score.
This winning performace is a positive step towards Mark securing a place in the New Zealand team for the World Equestrian Games, which is set to be held in Kentucky in just over a month's time.
Mark bought NZB Campino a year ago and has had eight competitions in Britain on the horse, finishing with two wins, two seconds and two fourth placings. Mark believes the horse has a bright future.
"He's pretty good in all three phases, with excellent dressage, good show jumping and hasn't made a single cross country mistake. This course was good for him as it was not too challenging for a relatively inexperienced horse."
Mark also competed on NZB Grass Valley, producing a quiet cross country and finishing in 23rd place of the 75 starters in the CCI*** class.
