Mongolian Beauty Another Standout for Curraghmore
8 May 2018
Curraghmore have yet again delivered a highlight lot with the winning Fastnet Rock filly Mongolian Beauty on Day 2 of the Karaka May Sale.
Setting a new top price at the 2018 Sale, Andrew Williams Bloodstock was determined to acquire the smart filly catalogued as Lot 371 and went to $180,000 to do so.
“I thought she was absolutely fantastic physically,” commented Williams. “She was the one I came over for.”
“She comes from a very good American family which I had quite a bit to do with when I was based in America.
“Fastnet Rock is doing a fantastic job as a broodmare sire and she’s a full to a very good horse. She’ll head straight to Australia and be mated to a suitable sire.”
Mongolian Beauty is out of Group Three-performing Galileo mare Amazing Beauty making her a sister to Group Two Hawkes Bay Guineas winner Mongolian Falcon.
She has been lightly raced with 10 starts for two wins, five seconds and one third under the guidance of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, and was offered through Curraghmore’s draft as a breeding proposition.
“It was a good price,” commented Gordon Cunningham. “There was plenty of interest in her and she would be very sought after in any catalogue.”
“She’s a very good looking mare, from a very good family and by a good stallion. She had a lot of ability as a racehorse and will make a very good broodmare."
Andrew Williams Bloodstock has now purchased four lots for $372,000 in receipts, including one of the highlight lots yesterday – Brighthill Farm’s Pride of Dubai colt (Lot 146).
