16 February 2015
A brilliant last to first finish saw Absolutely (NZ) (Coats Choice) record his first stakes win in the S$200,000 Sgp-3 Three Rings Trophy (1400m) last night in Singapore.

This was the Absolutely’s fourth win from his nine starts for trainer Cliff Brown, whilst also taking his first stakes victory. The four-year-old broke his maiden status as a three-year-old on his racing debut and has since won two further races and placed second and third in four starts prior to this run.
“He is a lovely, good natured horse and he went really well,” commented Brown. “He has always been a little bit immature but he is starting to strengthen up now and is beginning to cope better in his races.”
Absolutely dropped back to last with rider Craig Newitt as the field left the barriers. Hermano Menor (Duporth) showed the way with Absolutely continuing to trail the field outside of 300m.
The Coats Choice gelding powered down the outside of the track for a last to first victory, winning by 1.3 lengths. It was a quinella for Karaka Ready to Run graduates as Titanium (NZ) (Tavistock) claimed second place and Hughsy (Henny Hughes) finished in third position.
“I will give him a break now and then will get him ready for the Four-Year-Old Series,” noted Brown.
Placing in all but one start has earned Absolutely S$262,035 in prizemoney to date for owners the Auric Stable.
Absolutely was purchased at the 2012 South Island Sale of 2YOs and Mixed Bloodstock for $3,000 by NZB as agent from Berkley Stud. He then returned to the 2012 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs and was sold to his current trainer, Brown, for $27,500 from Esker Lodge.
Bred by Alan Jones and Edwina Morris of Berkley Stud, the four-year-old gelding is out of Kappadios (Great Charmer), the dam of 10 winners. Absolutely is a half-brother to stakes placegetter Komplete Kaos (Desert Sun), who finished second in the Group 3 Waikato Guineas. Komplete Kaos is dam of stakes winner Rockdale (Danroad), winner of the Group 1 TJ Smith Classic.
