From the stable of Stephen Marsh, No More Tears won her first trial in March. A second trial over 1000m saw the filly finish in second place before visiting the winner’s circle in her first raceday appearance two weeks later.

“It was a very courageous effort coming from near last in a track record time,” commented Marsh. “We thought she would be up against it a bit given the talent in the race and being a first starter having drawn a wide gate. I was over the moon with her, it was a super effort.

“We are talking at the moment as to where to next for her, but we will send her to the paddock for now and she will return for the three-year-old races and probably look towards the 1000 Guineas.”

Beginning slowly from barrier 8 with Michael Coleman riding, No More Tears found herself following the rail towards the rear of the field. Unsurpassed (NZ) (Exceed and Excel) lead the field around the corner down the middle of the track while No More Tears took the inside run to make up ground.

Racing down the home straight, No More Tears made ground along the inside and tracked the front-runner Unsurpassed inside 300m. Coleman pulled the daughter of Darci Brahma out to the middle of the track to challenge, breezing past the leader in the final stages to win by half-a-length over Unsurpassed Thwayya (Snitzel) third.

Owned by Go Racing’s Don’t Cry Syndicate, managed by Albert Bosma, the two-year-old filly has earned $31,250 in prizemoney.

Go Racing purchased the daughter of Darci Brahma at the 2014 Karaka Select Sale for $75,000 from Ardsley Stud.

Bred by DW Wallace, No More Tears is out of Ocean Of Tears (Minardi), a half-sister to winner of the Group 2 Reisling Stakes Hips Don’t Lie (Stravinsky) and stakes placegetters Acquired (O’Reilly), Azevedo (Helissio) and Procurement (O’Reilly).
