NZB 2009 Ready To Run Sale on Tomorrow
16 November 2009
New Zealand Bloodstock's 2009 Ready to Run Sale is all set to take place at Karaka tomorrow, Tuesday 17 November, from 10am.
The Sale continues to leave a steady stream of winners week in and week out, especially in Asia, and this past weekend was no different with Ready to Run graduates winning in Singapore and Malaysia.
West Vencedor
Michael Freedman, who is currently in Auckland for the 2009 sale, took his two-year-old charge West Vencedor (Catcher in the Rye x Caboose, by Success Express) to the races for the first time on Friday night and the $87,500 2008 Ready to Run purchase duly delivered.

West Vencedor wins on debut for Michael Freedman in Singapore |
Having only acquired the gelding 12 months ago from Kilgravin Lodge at Karaka, West Vencedor took out the $65,000 Restricted Maiden (1200m) by some three lengths over Esteem Power (Towkay).
Freedman commented after the race, "He has the makings of a nice horse as he has done that on raw ability."
"He's such a nice relaxed horse that I have no doubt he will make the grade and will get out over a bit more ground later on in his three-year-old year."
Fuku Kitaru
Trainer Mohd Yusof produced his second Ready to Run purchase to the winners circle in consecutive weeks when Fuku Kitaru (Ishiguru x Southern Jewel, by Vice Regal) proved the giant killer when beating odds-on pop Bank's Gift into fourth by a length.

Soon Hock Lee purchased the two-year-old at the same 2008 Karaka Ready to Run Sale that West Vencedor was purchased for $37,500, from Chequers Stud.
Having now earned in excess of $100,000 in 12 months, the gelding has never missed a place in five starts made up of two wins and three placings.
Mohd Yusof scored with Doremi La (Kashani) last weekend at Kranji, another two-year-old from the 2008 Karaka Ready to Run Sale.
++2006 Karaka Ready To Run graduate Fourth Avenue (Al Akbar x Agent Jane, by Sound Reason) won his second race in three Malaysian starts over the weekend to take his earnings to over 50,000 ringgits (approx NZ$20,000).
Pedigree Updates
There have been a number of very important pedigree updates up to, and including, this weekend where Lot 103's half-sister Happy Hippy (Shamardal) placed in the Listed MRC Snowhite Handicap (1400m) on Group 2 Sandown Classic day.
A winner as a two-year-old, Happy Hippy registered her second stakes-placing in a month in the Snowhite and looks set to contest further stakes races for Patinack Farm in the near future.
Her half-brother, Lot 103, is by General Nediym and will be offered on account of Bluegables Farm. Click here to view his 200m breeze-up in 11.68.
