NZB Breeze Ups Completed Today

A successful day at Te Rapa racecourse has concluded the Breeze Ups for New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2012 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs with the last 176 horses taking to the track today.

The track maintained its ideal Dead 4 rating overnight and with the assistance of blustery conditions the average Breeze Up time of 10.75 seconds was slightly faster than yesterday’s average time of 10.94 seconds.

Today saw the last 176 of 367 two-year-olds Breeze Up over the final 200 metres of the Te Rapa straight, with each lot individually timed and filmed. Yesterday’s quickest Breeze Up was completed by Kilgravin Lodge’s Towkay colt at Lot 366 who ran a sharp 10.16 seconds.

That time was beaten today by one heat posting a pair of sub-10 second times, with the Guillotine colt out of the Centaine mare Our Chicaine (Lot 244) running a sharp 9.93 seconds, and Lot 171, the Darci Brahma colt from the Encosta de Lago mare Lacango running the second fastest time of the day in 9.94 seconds.

Earlier in the day Mana Park’s Fastnet Rock colt (Lot 242) from the American bred Stravinsky mare Oraia, ran 10.21 seconds. He was one of a number of Fastnet Rock colts to Breeze Up today with Lyndhurst Farm’s two-year-old (Lot 285) from Raskova (Soviet Star), a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Solvini, running 10.40 seconds.

Ascot Farm’s Fastnet Rock colt at Lot 128 also turned in a good Breeze Up running 10.54 seconds.

Other two-year-olds to feature on the final day of the Breeze Ups were JK Farm’s Casino Prince colt (Lot 19) who completed the 200 metres in 10.21 seconds, and Regal Farm’s Zabeel colt (Lot 166) from the Keeper half-sister to the Group 1 winner Foxwood running 10.65 seconds.

Prospective buyers should note that every horse has had a blood sample taken immediately after its breeze up gallop to permit screening by a purchaser against a saleday sample.

DVD copies of all Breeze Up videos will be available from Tuesday 23 October. Breeze Up clips will also be available for viewing at www.nzb.co.nz and on the Sale’s iPad application.
