NZB Ready to Run Sale Claims Group 2 Double
2 January 2013
New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale – Australasia’s leading Sale of two-year-olds – has continued its current run of form with a Group 2 double at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day from graduates Miss Pelear and Hiace.
Miss Pelear secures victory in the G2 Rich Hill Mile |
The Keith & Brendon Hawtin trained Miss Pelear (Mr. Nancho x Tori Belle) claimed the first of the two wins with a brilliant late finish under jockey Noel Harris to claim the $100,000 Group 2 Rich Hill Mile (1600m).
The four-year-old daughter of Mr. Nancho has proven a competitive mare and yesterday’s Group 2 victory was her first at stakes level from 19 starts – with the win taking her winning tally to five and her stakes to over $120,000.
Bred and co-owned by P Guise and M Guise, Miss Pelear was offered by Beatson Stables Ltd at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2010 Ready to Run Sale.
Rich Hill Stud – the race sponsor – has a good line-up of yearlings heading to Karaka 2013 including strong drafts from their resident sires Pentire and Any Suggestion. Click the links to view Rich Hill Stud’s Karaka Premier and Select Sale drafts.
The $100,000 Group 2 City of Auckland Cup (2400m) saw Hiace (Johar x Cryptomist) complete the double for the Ready to Run Sale with a good staying performance to take his first victory at stakes level and become the 12th stakes winner for his sire Johar.
Hiace wins the G2 City of Auckland Cup at Ellerslie |
The six-year-old won his last start at Ellerslie over the same distance in the Dunstan Feeds Championship Premier (2400m) in mid-December and he has shown his ability at performing over ground, with four of his five career victories coming over 2000 metres or more.
Hiace was bred by Chequers N.Z. Ltd and was offered by Chequers Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2008 Ready to Run Sale. Raced by Mrs K & M McKeagg, the son of Johar has now won five of his 35 starts – with a further six placings – for over $100,000 in stakes.
