NZB's Singapore TV Show Debuts
26 December 2009
The first television show of its kind out of New Zealand, profiling the New Zealand thoroughbred product in Singapore, has debuted on Singapore television screens.
The fortnightly programme - Xinxilan Ma: New Zealand Thoroughbreds - produced by Murray Owles and Asher Finlayson in association with New Zealand Bloodstock, went to air for the first time a fortnight ago, with the second show scheduled for 10:30pm (Sing) tonight (24 December) on Starhub channel 88, The Racing Channel.
NZB Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela said it's a milestone event for the New Zealand industry.
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to get some high quality racing and breeding information from New Zealand in front of the huge Singapore audience. It's such an important region for New Zealand and we're dedicated to enhancing the exchange information for the benefit of both the Singapore and New Zealand industries.
"The new show is a wonderful window into New Zealand for the Asian region, showcasing the NZ product performing at its best in Singapore and beyond, and providing a valuable insight for anyone owning or training New Zealand horses."
Successful Singapore owner Mr KL Koh, whose Super Trio Stable has raced a string of successful Kiwi gallopers including Wasabi, Patchouli and current Pins three-year-old, Ace Armando, was amongst the owners and trainers impressed with Episode 1, shown on 9 December.
"It's good to see the New Zealand industry supporting Singapore Turf Club and also showing us the good product that we go to purchase at Karaka."
Petrea says the feedback from the first show is encouraging for the future.
"It's a privilege to be welcomed to air in Singapore in such a positive way and we're hugely grateful to the Singapore Turf Club for making it possible. We're lucky to have a world class team on board with a firm commitment to growing the flow of information between our two countries, and our plan is to continue providing quality, informative content for Singapore racing fans long into the future."
The New Zealand Thoroughbreds show will be shown fortnightly on channel 88 with frequent repeats.
