NZB Sponsors Waikato RC Labour Day Meeting
23 October 2007
New Zealand Bloodstock continued their prolific support of New Zealand racing with their annual sponsorship of three races at Waikato Racing Club's Labour Day meeting at Te Rapa yesterday.
New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance, who have supported the Waikato RC meet for the last three years, sponsored both race six and race eight on the ten race card. It was a pair of victories for champion apprentice jockey Troy Harris as he led Roger and Darrel Lang-trained Foose (Colombia x Golden Value) home in race six in addition to the Paul Hillis-trained Gold Merit (Spectatorial x Lladro Lass) in race eight.
Foose who edged out Mr D'Alton to win the maiden contest over 1400m by a neck was bought by Darrel Lang for NZ$15,000 at the 2005 Karaka Festival Yearling Sale. Gold Merit was offered for sale at the New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale, the sponsors of race ten, for NZ$25,000.
New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale also has a long history with Waikato RC with the Sale's Breeze-Ups being held there this Thursday and Friday. The Ready to Run Sale 1600 was won by Cross Roads (Cape Cross x Toonsie) who was coaxed to a length and a quarter victory over Uncle Jim under jockey Gavin McKeon for owner Peter Walker.
