gavelhouse.com - online thoroughbred auction coming soon
Bringing gavelhouse.com direct to you, wherever you are.

New Zealand Bloodstock is immensely proud to move into a new generation with one of the biggest developments in its proud history; the launch of the exciting new online selling platform gavelhouse.com in late March.

Entirely New Zealand-owned, gavelhouse.com follows the blueprint of highly successful online auction platforms overseas and embraces the unparalleled efficiency and choice offered by the online marketplace. Technology is an increasingly important part of New Zealanders’ everyday lives, and gavelhouse.com will put NZB’s high-quality and esteemed thoroughbred marketplace at people’s fingertips.

With the backing of NZB’s extensive network and rich 90-year history of bringing buyers and sellers of bloodstock together, the gavelhouse.com team is committed to saving you money and getting you the best possible return for your horse.

With this in mind, there was an opportunity to diversify and offer clients more options in terms of saving money when it comes to selling a horse and more options in terms of when you can sell them.

“Our acquisition of gavelhouse.com in 2014 was our first foray into the online space as a specific trading tool for horses. The timeliness factor of an online auction has driven us to take this different direction with the site,” NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook said.

“We have invested heavily to make sure that the technology behind the site is of the highest standard possible as we continue to lead the way as one of the world leaders in bloodstock trading.”

With auctions every month, gavelhouse.com will provide an unprecedented level of choice to sellers and buyers alike.

Sellers can list a variety of thoroughbreds for sale including weanlings, yearlings, two-year-olds, unraced horses, racehorses, broodmares, stallions, stallion shares, and retired horses.

gavelhouse.com buyers will have all NZB’s services at their fingertips, from airfreight to insurance and finance. Buyers can arrange to inspect any of the horses that are up for sale, either personally or by an agent of their choice. They can also have horses vetted prior to the sale and scoped afterwards.

Sellers can rely on NZB’s experience and extensive network, plus gavelhouse.com’s large database to promote sales or specific lots. It allows sellers an even bigger range of options to choose from in deciding where their horse is best placed - whether it be at one of NZB’s Karaka sales or online at gavelhouse.com.

gavelhouse.com has a familiar face at the helm of sales and marketing, former NZB employee Haylie Martin.

“Having worked for NZB for almost seven years before heading to Australia, where I benefited from gathering experience in successful thoroughbred and equestrian-based online businesses and also one of Australasia’s leading stables, I’m brilliantly placed to share this expertise with gavelhouse.com clients,” she said.

“My enthusiasm for seeing hard-working breeders and owners in New Zealand rewarded hasn’t waned, and I can’t wait to get stuck in and get the best results possible for those that put their faith in gavelhouse.com.”

The countdown to kick-off for gavelhouse.com is well and truly underway, with the first auction set to take place from Monday 25 until Thursday 28 April. The catalogue will be available for viewing from Monday 18 April.

The first gavelhouse.com Sale will be the most anticipated development in New Zealand thoroughbred auctions for many years, so if you want to enter your horse, act now to secure your place. To list your horse for the upcoming Sale, email Haylie Martin at info@gavelhouse.com.
