NZB Weanling Sale Graduate Stars at Yulong Racecourse
7 September 2026
NZB was proud to sponsor the 1 million RMB NZB 2YO Karaka Stakes (1200m) at Yulong Racecourse in China on Saturday, and the race was won by a graduate of the NZB National Weanling Sale.
Bu Xuan Er Zhan (NZ) (Proisir) is owned by Mr GS Liu, who bought the colt for $60,000 from the Haunui Farm draft at the 2024 National Weanling Sale at Karaka.
NZB’s Andrew Seabrook and Alex Teng were on course to present to the winning connections of Bu Xuan Er Zhan, on what was the richest raceday in China.
A son of two-time champion New Zealand sire Proisir, Bu Xuan Er Zhan was bred by the Moore family’s Soliloquy Lodge.
He is out of the Iffraaj mare Trinity Hill (NZ), who won three races and is a half-sister to the top stayer Sacred Master (NZ) (Mastercraftsman). Sacred Master won seven races including the Group Two Avondale Cup (2400m) and Group Three Newcastle Gold Cup (2200m), and he ran third in the Group One Auckland Cup (3200m) and fourth in the Group One Metropolitan Handicap (2400m).
The second dam of Bu Xuan Er Zhan is Trickle (NZ) (Storm Creek), a winning full-sister to the Group One winner Eileen Dubh (NZ) (Storm Creek).
Further back in the pedigree page are some of the great names produced by the Soliloquy Lodge bloodlines, such as Solveig (NZ) (Imposing), Soltanto (NZ) (Tights), Culminate (NZ) (Elnadim) and Captivate (NZ) (Stravinsky).
"It was a pleasure for Andrew and myself to attend and be part of such an exciting race day here in China," commented China Representative & NZB Airfreight's Alex Teng.
"We've met with lots of clients, who are looking forward to returning to Karaka very soon, in search for quailty horses."
NZB’s sponsorship of the NZB 2YO Karaka Stakes at Yulong Racecourse acknowledges the importance of China as a market and continues a notable association with global thoroughbred powerhouse Yulong.
Their internationally recognised green and white colours have been carried by New Zealand’s undefeated superstar racehorse Well Written (Written Tycoon) to victories in the Group One New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m), Group Two Auckland Guineas (1400m), $1.5m TAB Karaka Millions 3YO (1600m), $4m NZB Kiwi (1500m) and Saturday’s Group One Proisir Plate (1400m). Well Written, who was bought for $80,000 from the 2024 NZB National Online Yearling Sale, was on Sunday evening named New Zealand’s Horse of the Year and Champion Three-Year-Old for the 2025-26 season.
