Pinprick Picks Up $50,000 Mercedes Super Bonus Jackpot

The last Mercedes Super Bonus Colts & Geldings Jackpot was struck on Saturday at Taranaki Racing Club's Inter-Provincial meeting.
The Moroney / Scott-trained Pinprick (NZ) (Pins x Hinewai) scored the $50,000 bonus when he cruised to a 1 � length victory in the Carters James Hardie 2YO Colts & Geldings 1100m.
Pin Up Boy (NZ) (Pins x Dare To Win) who is trained by the Rogerson / Autridge team ran second giving Pins the quinella in the event. His Tory (NZ) Gold Brose x Thatcher) rounded out the minor placings with third.
Pinprick, who was bred by Chris Grace, was sold by Little Avondale Stud to Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $50,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Select Colts Sale in 2003.
Later in the day, at Ellerslie, the $10,000 bonus attached to the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes was not struck.
The 1200m race was taken out by the Sargent / Allpress-trained filly Sheka (NZ) (Sandtrap x Lynsu). Sheka was sold by Java Lodge at the 2003 New Zealand Bloodstock Festival Sale for $2,500. She was purchased by Brian & Todd Bidois.
Royal Babe (AUS) (Rory's Jester x Royal Snip) ran home for second and race favourite Savute (NZ) (Danzero x Wolf) finished third.
The next $10,000 bonus race will be at Auckland R.C. on June 5. This will be followed in close succession by two bonuses at Foxton R.C and Te Aroha J.C on June 7 and 9, respectively.
