RTR Graduate Victorious in the Perak Gold Vase

Last start stakes-winner Balotelli (NZ) (My Halo) added another black-type victory to his form after winning the Rgt. 200,000 Listed Perak Gold Vase (1100m) in Malaysia last night.

Trained in Malaysia by Ooi Chin Chin, Balotelli has raced on 13 occasions, winning six races including his last start in the Listed Tunku Gold Cup. His first tilt at a stakes race, the Listed Penang Sprint Trophy, saw him finish second to race rival Good Baby (Hussonet).

Ridden by Salee Bin Saad from barrier 2, Balotelli sprinted to victory by two-and-a-quarter-lengths over Good Baby and Peaceful Warrior (Bel Esprit) who finished in second and third place respectively.

Owned by Mrs Chew Siew Ean, who purchased Balotelli at the 2012 Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs in conjunction with Mr Ooi Tang Beng for $40,000 from Esker Lodge, the four-year-old gelding has earned over Rgt 573,923 in prizemoney.

Bred by Alan Jones & Edwina Morris, the son of My Halo is out of winning dam Step We Gaily (Danske) and is a full-brother to Singapore winner Dragon Commander (My Halo). Granddam Grace the Bride (Personal Escort) is a half-sister to multiple stakes-winner Hurrah (Bahhare), the winner of the Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes, and Carlisle Bay – Best Gift (Bahhare), winner of the HK-3 Sha Tin Trophy and second placing in the Group 1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth ll Cup.
