Satinka Captures Fifth Leg of Filly Series

31 December 2007

The $125,000 Group 2 Cambridge Stud Eight Carat Classic (1600m) at Ellerslie on Boxing Day saw Stravinsky filly Satinka seal the fifth leg of the prestigious New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series and get her first 8 points on the leaderboard.

The Lance O'Sullivan trained Satinka (Stravinsky - Miss Saigon) had previously placed third behind Keepa Cruisin in the Group 1 Levin Classic (1600m), but this time she turned the tables on her rival to beat Pretty Vegas in second and force Keepa Cruisin to settle with third.

The Mark Walker trained Insouciant currently leads the Filly of the Year Series on 18 points after victories in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock One Thousand Guineas, and the Group 3 Ezibuy Eulogy Stakes. Keepa Cruisin is in second place with 11 points and Satinka has moved into third.

The next leg of the ten-race Series is the New Zealand Bloodstock Royal Stakes (2000m) at Ellerslie on New Years Day, where the winner will earn 8 points, with 4 points for second and 2 points for third.
