Second Stakes Success for Glamour Tycoon (NZ)
24 March 2025

Karaka graduate Glamour Tycoon (Written Tycoon) added a second black-type victory to her record with a nail-biting triumph in Saturday’s $130,000 Listed Bill Tito Book Repair Specialist Lightning Handicap (1200m) at Trentham.
Previously the winner of last season’s Listed O’Learys Fillies’ Stakes (1340m), Glamour Tycoon has now had 16 starts for four wins, seven placings and $254,510 in stakes. She was a $220,000 purchase from Highline Thoroughbreds’ Book 1 draft at Karaka 2022.
Glamour Tycoon brought a strong run of four-year-old form into Saturday’s race, having had four starts this season for a win, a second and two thirds. She looked well placed in the Lightning Handicap with only 53 kilograms on her back, and she was sent out as one of the favourites.
Jockey Wiremu Pinn took up a prominent position, settling in third and trailing the front-runner Shoes (NZ) (Derryn) up to the home turn.
Pinn angled Glamour Tycoon into the clear in the straight and she quickened stylishly and staked her claim. Trentham specialist Platinum Attack (Santos) emerged from the pack and threw down a fierce challenge, but Glamour Tycoon held him out by a nose in a head-bobbing finish.
“I wasn’t confident I had won, but she is a tough little filly and I love her,” Pinn said. “We have a great association and I do a lot of work on her at home.
“She jumped very well and she relaxed beautifully. The gaps opened up and she has done it all on her own. She had to fight hard, and it is very satisfying to get the job done.
“I think she is going well, a lovely filly with a great attitude, conserves energy well and pretty much just does what you ask of her. She is very genuine and she will always try.”
Glamour Tycoon is trained by Stephen Marsh for an ownership group headed by the 2022 Bourbon Lane Stable New Zealand Partnership.
