Shikoba Does it Again

Outstanding three-year old filly, Shikoba (Chief Bearhart x Summary) took a firm lead in the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series with her win in the Group 2 Cambridge Stud Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (2000m) at Te Rapa on Saturday.�

Prominent throughout, Shikoba, proved too strong in the run to the line for the lightly raced Fancyfree (Danasinga x Girls Talk), while Everswindell (Align x Hilarion Lady) produced an eye-catching run from an Oaks perspective, making up significant ground over the closing stages after coming from the tale of the field.

The win is the third Group 2 success in a row for the filly, giving her five wins from eight career starts, and extending her lead on the points table giving her a total of 24 points, with Seachange in second place with 12 points and Pulcinella in third with 9.5 points.

The Group 3 Devan Plastics Lowland Stakes on 4 March will offer six points to the winner, with the final race in the Series, the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks, offering 12 points to the winner.
