So You Think Rated Among World's Best
14 January 2011
The accolades just keep coming for the Kiwi bred champion So You Think who is now officially rated amongst the world's best by the International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities.
The 2010 Thoroughbred World Rankings have rated the former Bart Cummings trained So You Think (High Chaparral x Triassic), equal Champion Intermediate (Middle Distance) Turf Performer of the World, alongside the Irish star Rip Van Winkle with a ranking of 126, making him the eighth best horse in the world.
The rating is the highest ever given to an Australian runner, with the previous best held by three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, and dual Cox Plate winner Northerly, both sharing a rating of 124.

That performance has seen the son of High Chaparral also rated the Champion Stayer of the World, an achievement that has come from just 12 career starts.
So You Think was bred by Mike Moran & Piper Farm Ltd and was bought by DGR Thoroughbreds from Windsor Park Stud at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale for only $110,000. He was raced in Australia by Bart Cummings' long time client and friend Dato Tan Chin Nam, in partnership with Tunku Ahmad Yahaya.
His short stint on the Australian tracks has also seen him win the Group 1 Underwood Stakes, Group 1 Yalumba Stakes and the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes for over A$5.6 million in earnings.
A major share in So You Think has since been bought by the stud giant Coolmore, and the champ will now be racing in their famous colours in the Northern Hemisphere, under the care of trainer Aidan O'Brien.
So You Think, only days ago, finally reached his destination of Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle Stables where he will be trained for Europe's premier middle distance races, including the world famous Prix De L'Arc de Triomphe. He is currently sitting in the third line of betting at 10/1, behind last year's winner Workforce, and crack three-year-old Frankel.
