Super Easy Supreme in Singapore

The Singapore Turf Club’s Annual Awards Evening on Thursday night was highlighted by Karaka graduate Super Easy (NZ) being crowned Singapore Horse of the Year and Champion 3YO.
The son of Darci Brahma, who started his race career in New Zealand, dominated the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge winning all three legs. He was in a league of his own when he won the Group 1 Singapore Guineas coming from a near impossible position round the home turn.
As well as being crowned Singapore’s Horse of the Year, Super Easy was also crowned Singapore’s Champion 3YO after he won all 10 races for Michael Freedman and the Joy ‘n’ Happiness Stable.
Super Easy was bought by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds for $140,000 from Esker Lodge at the 2010 Premier Sale and has now won almost S$1.5m.
Darci Brahma will be represented by 23 yearlings at the Karaka Premier Sale and another 21 yearlings in the Karaka Select Sale, with highlights including:
- Lot 138 a half-brother to Group 2 Wellington Guineas winner Keyora (Bachelor Duke) and Roc De Cambes(Red Ransom) whose first yearlings will be presented at Karaka 2012.
- Lot 30 a half-brother to Group 1 Telegraph Handicap winner Guiseppina (Johar)
Esker Lodge has 6 yearlings in the Premier Sale including Lot 401 a full-brother to Group 2 Avondale Cup winner Tinseltown (Pentire).
Flying Fulton (Flying Spur) was also rewarded for his love of the Polytrack being named the Champion Polytrack horse. He won the first feature race of the year, the Group 3 New Year Cup (1900m), and has an imposing record, registering four wins and a second from his five starts on the Polytrack in 2012.
Consigned through NZB’s 2008 Ready to Run draft by Mana Park, he was purchased by David Ellis for $210,000 and has now won over S$1 million in Singapore for theTe Akau Racing Syndicate.
Flying Spur will be represented by 6 yearlings at Karaka 2013 including Lot 237 from the Pencarrow Stud family that includes Romanee Conti (Sir Tristram), Ethereal (Rhythm) and Darci Brahma (Danehill).
Expat Kiwi trainer Laurie Laxon was also named Champion Trainer for the seventh time. In a tight finish, Laurie lead Michael Freedman into the last night by one win and the two were tied at the conclusion of the meeting with Laurie being given the nod on the count back for second placings.
