Super Selection at NZB Breeze Ups

The official Breeze Ups for New Zealand Bloodstock's 2011 Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds will be held at Te Rapa racecourse this coming Monday and Tuesday (17 & 18 October) from 10am, with 317 young horses set to go on display.

Each two-year-old will be filmed and timed galloping over the final 200 metres of the home straight either alone or in pairs (at the discretion of the vendor), with a wealth of talent on show this year.

Monday's Breeze Ups get underway at Heat 1 with Ardsley Stud's Pentire gelding (Lot 193), a half-brother to the stakes winners Brianna and Centennial, whotakesto the course with the first of 11 Iffraaj geldings in the Sale (Lot 295).

Lyndhurst Farm's 22 sale entries will be keenly watched, with the farm providing of the early highlights at Heat 8 with the half-brother to the current Group performer Do You Think by Hussonet (Lot 69), and the half-brother by Pins to the Group 3 winner Larry's Never Late and current stakes performer Collar (Lot 185), breezing together.

Lyndhurst sends out another gun pair at Heat 13 with the first Darci Brahma of the day - and one of 11 in the catalogue - the half-brother to Group 3 winner Grand Dancer (Lot 74) who breezes with one of only three entries by Zabeel in the Sale (Lot 198); followed immediately at Heat 14 by the promising sons of Fastnet Rock (Lot 301) and Stratum (Lot 156).

Interest in the afternoon's line-up will include Curraghmore Stud's half-brother to the Group 1 winner Veloce Bella by Darci Brahma (Lot 11) breezing up in Heat 66 with the Pentire gelding (Lot 145) from the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Glitter Woman.

Tuesday will host another top selection of two-year-olds with Esker Lodge's Fastnet Rock filly (Lot 310) from the stakes placed Centaine mare Shimo Star go through her paces with the half-brother to the Group 1 winner Nacho Man by Storm Creek (Lot 111).

Bradbury Park fields two nice youngsters during the morning with their O'Reilly filly (Lot 137) breezing up with a filly by Bernardini (Lot 260) from the dual stakes winning mare Post Thyme.

Mana Park will saddle the half-brother to the Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder by Elusive City (Lot 205) in the afternoon of the final day, with the colt by Australia's Champion Sire Lonhro (Lot 199).

The Breeze Ups will also see the progeny of a host of other leading sires including Bel Esprit, Danehill Dancer, Encosta de Lago, Exceed and Excel, General Nediym, High Chaparral, Keeper, Testa Rossa, Thorn Park, Volksraad, Zabeel and more.

Each horse's lot number in the Sale will be displayed on their saddle cloth and a penetrometer reading of the track conditions will be taken each morning and included in the video presentation.

It is compulsory for every horse to submit to a blood test immediately after its breeze up gallop to permit screening for undisclosed substances. Buyers may elect then for the sample to be taken and tested against a saleday sample upon purchase.

A two-and-a-half-hour edited programme of the Breeze Ups will be shown on Trackside tv (channel 36) on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 26 October: 05:30-08:00
  • Thursday 27 October: 00:30-03:00
  • Tuesday 01 November: 03:30-06:00
  • Friday 04 November: 07:00-09:30
