Success for the kiwis' started in race 2 with a NZ-bred quinella. Trained by Mr Ho Leung, King Horse (Kaapstad x Free As A Bird) claimed the HK$500,000 Shek Wu Hui Handicap (1400m) ahead of fellow kiwi Perfect Score (Centaine x Military Fun).
King Horse was purchased at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2000 Premier Yearling Sale for $40,000 by Anglo Asian Bloodstock of Hong Kong. He was sold through the draft of Mapperley Stud.
Also a New Zealand Bloodstock sale graduate, Perfect Score was purchased at the 2000 Select Colts Sale for $37,500 by Roberts Bloodstock Pty Ltd of South Australia. He was sold through the draft of Rich Hill Thoroughbreds.
Race 3 on the card, the HK$570,000 Pak Shek Au Handicap (2000m), saw the best result for the kiwis' with Sean Woods trained Enormous Way (Kaapstad x Marilag) securing the win ahead of fellow kiwis' Venetian Master (Masterclass x Venetian Court) and another Kaapstad gelding Exceptional (from Waikiki) making a New Zealand bred trifecta.
All three horses are graduates of New Zealand Bloodstock's Yearling Sales. Enormous Way was purchased at the 1998 Premier Yearling Sale by Mr Paul Willets of Auckland for $47,500. He was sold through the draft of Trelawney Stud.
Venetian Master was sold through the draft of Waikato Stud at the 2001 Premier Yearling Sale. The gelding was purchased by Michael Stedman Bloodstock of New South Wales for $100,000.
Exceptional was purchased for $100,000 at the 1998 Premier Yearling Sale by Anton Koolman Bloodstock. He was sold through the draft of Westbury Farm.
Race 4 saw another kiwi victorious, with Real Winner (Straight Strike x Most Happy Zam) living up to his name to take home the HK$570,000 Lok Ma Chau Handicap (1600m).
Real Winner was purchased by Graeme and Debbie Sanders at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2000 Select Colts Sale for $70,000. He was sold through the draft of Valentine Stables.
New Zealand Bloodstock's Autumn Yearling Sale and Autumn 2YO Breeze Up Sale will take place on Friday 9th May.
