The Party Stand Takes the TRAC
28 February 2011
The Roger James trained The Party Stand made it a stakes double for Karaka graduates at Matamata on Saturday when taking out the $45,000 Listed Stanley Group TRAC Stakes (2000m).
Ridden by Craig Grylls at the light weight of 53 kilograms, The Party Stand (Thorn Park x Cremisi) came from the back of the field and wide on the turn and swamped her rivals in an exciting two length win.
The four-year-old's win was her fifth from fifteen starts and had the makings of what could be a strong campaign for the daughter of Thorn Park, with a trip over the Tasman now on the cards.
Her sire Thorn Park is having a wonderful season with his sons Jimmy Choux and Centennial Park running well on the track, and The Party Stand's win has taken his stakes winning tally to 10. All eyes will be on his super talented son Jimmy Choux at this weekend's Telecom New Zealand Derby.
The Party Stand was bred by Mrs M P Trotter and was purchased by her trainer Roger James from Windsor Park Stud at the 2009 Karaka Select Sale for $27,500.
