Three Stakes Wins in a Row For Celebrity Dream (NZ)
30 December 2017
Celebrity Dream (NZ) (Thorn Park) has been one of the stars of the Perth racing carnival, and she recorded her third consecutive stakes win in Saturday’s A$100,000 Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m) at Ascot.
In her previous two starts, the Peters Investments-owned five-year-old had won the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) and Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m).
Stepping up again in distance on Saturday held no fears, as she and jockey Chris Parnham sat in midfield before proving too strong for her seven rivals down the straight. She scored by just under half a length.
Celebrity Dream has now had 15 starts for eight wins, four placings and A$360,750 in prize-money.
Bred by Garry Cranny, Frantic Bloodstock Ltd and Haunui Bloodstock Ltd, Celebrity Dream is a daughter of the Red Ransom mare Valpolicella (NZ), winner of three races including the Group 3 Manawatu Classic and Listed Champagne Stakes.
Valpolicella is the dam of four foals to race, three of them winners and three of them stakes winners. Vavasour (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) won the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies’ Classic, Group 3 Counties Cup and Group 3 Waikato Cup, while Vilanova (NZ) (Commands) won the Group 2 Autumn Classic, Group 3 Grand Prix, Listed Tattersalls Club Cup and Listed Star Way Stakes.
Celebrity Dream was offered at the 2014 Premier Sale by Haunui Farm, where she was bought by John Chalmers Bloodstock for $260,000.
