Tomorrowland Turns to the Telegraph
15 December 2014
Up and coming sprinter Tomorrowland (NZ) (Fast ‘N’ Famous) claimed his first stakes win in the Listed $50,000 Shaw’s Wire Ropes Sprint (1400m) at Saturday’s Te Rapa meeting.

Unbeaten in his last three starts, Tomorrowland has earned his place in black type racing for Matamata trainer Danica Guy.
“It was a fabulous performance,” commented Danica Guy. “Every time we step him up he keeps winning by the same margins.
“Michael (Coleman) feels he is untested. He didn’t have to ask much of him and won very easily. We are waiting for something to take him on so we can see how good he is.”
Jockey Michael Coleman went forward as the gates opened and trailed the pacemaker Goldminer (NZ) (Goldmine) for the duration of the trip. In the straight, Tomorrowland accelerated away from the field, taking victory by 2.8 lengths.
Sierra Beel (NZ) (Savabeel) was handy throughout the trip and finished in second place with Goldminer finishing third.
Tomorrowland has raced seven times with five wins, a third and finishing no further back than a fifth.
“The Telegraph is next for him and dependent on how he runs there, we will look to take him to Australia in the autumn,” said Guy.
“He is still learning and a bit raw. We are in no rush but if he comes out and wins the Telegraph we will have to see where to next.”
Winning Saturday’s race has increased his prize money to $102,785 for owners S Andres, G D Buchan, A S Byron, L J Howl, D Martin, G Marychurch, G D Rutherford and D Walker.
The son of Fast ‘N’ Famous was purchased by Leighton Howl for just $8,000 at the 2012 Karaka Select Sale from Waikato Stud.
Bred by Mary Chittick, Tomorrowland is out of Needled (Pins), a winner at 2000m and sister to Group 3 winner Rhysess (Pins). He is a half-brother to Needlly (O’Reilly), a mare who placed second in the same race last season.
Tomorrowland has a half-brother by O’Reilly entered in the 2015 Karaka Premier Sale, Lot 89 from Waikato Stud.
