Triple Update for NZ Ready to Run
4 October 2013
The last 24 hours have produced three new updates to New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs including today’s exciting debut winner Allez Eagle (NZ) (Guillotine).
The son of Guillotine won the $12,500 Rogerson Plumbing 1200m for three-year-olds in impressive style at Te Rapa today, following two eye-catching victories at the trials. The Tony Pike and Mark Donoghue trained gelding wasn’t missed by punters who backed him into second favouritism in the open three-year-old race behind the undefeated Cosmic Cube.
Allez Eagle proved too strong for his rivals as he ran out a convincing 1.5 length winner with Cosmic Cube finishing an unlucky third. On the back of the win Allez Eagle has been installed the new favourite for the Group 1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas at $5 with the New Zealand TAB.
Allez Eagle has a full-brother catalogued in the Ready to Run Sale at Lot 312 for Diamond Lodge.
Yesterday’s Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting produced another two winners that have siblings catalogued in the upcoming Sale.
The Trudy Keegan trained Les Sylphides (NZ) (Bachelor Duke) scored victory in the $8,000 Tobique @ Grangewilliam Stud Rating 75 over 2040m. The five-year-old mare has a half-brother by Sakhee’s Secret catalogued at Lot 394 in the Ready to Run Sale for Dormello Stud.
It was the fourth win in the career of Les Sylphides from 17 starts and she is one of five winners for her dam Dancing Viking (Nureyev), a Canadian-bred mare.
The Ready to Run catalogue was boosted in the very next race on the programme at Wanganui with Lot 185’s half-sister Citadelle (NZ) (City on a Hill) winning the $7,000 Double S Motordrome Rating 65 over 2040m.
Trained by Deborah Parry, Citadelle was patiently ridden near the tail of the field by jockey Darryl Bradley and improved behind runners from the 800m mark. Upon entering the straight Citadelle ducked to the inside and drew out to a clear lead to win by a length.
It was the second win in Citadelle’s career and she is the second horse to win from two runners out of her dam Pub Singa (Danasinga). The other winner to race from the mare is the seven-time winner and stakes placed Ormand Road (City on a Hill), a runner in tomorrow’s Group 1 Spring Classic at Hastings.
Lot 185 is by Road to Rock, a young son of Encosta de Lago, and will be offered by Magatiti Bloodstock.
New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs will be conducted at Karaka on 19 & 20 November. The catalogue and full list of pedigree updates can be viewed here.
