New Zealand Bloodstock graduates scooped two of the prestigious prizes at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards on Sunday, with Able One declared Champion Miler and Entrapment named Champion Griffin.

The John Moore trained Able One was a deserving winner after a season which saw him sweep to three consecutive black type wins. His race winning formula has been consistently showcased this season with his devastating sprint unleashed early in the straight which his opponents could not pull back. He rounded off the season with an impressive tally of three wins at his last three outings, including the HK2 Chairman's Trophy (1600m) in April and the International Group One Champion's Mile (1600m) three weeks later, then on to claim the Premier Cup HK3 (1400m) on 16 June.

By former shuttle sire Cape Cross and out of Gardenia (Danehill) Able One was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan at their Cambridge Stud. Initially sold at the 2004 Karaka Select Sale for $190,000 Able One was then pinhooked to top the 2004 Ready to Run Sale where he was snapped up by Paul Beamish Bloodstock for $270,000 from Phoenix Park. Able One is owned by Dr & Mrs Cornel Li Fook Kwan.

The contest for this season's Champion Griffin Award was dominated by the rising star, Entrapment, after a stunning seven wins in a row.

Unbeaten since his debut in February, and with over NZ$700,000 to his credit, Entrapment is trained by John Size who was named Champion Trainer at the awards. In his last outing the classy three-year-old took out the Juvenile Sprint Trophy (1200m) to gain his seventh consecutive win this season, breaking the Hong Kong record for most wins in a single season to surpass 26 horses with six wins in a single season to their name.

Raced by Benson Lo Tak Wing, Entrapment is by Halo Homewrecker out of Miabondialee. Respected Queensland agent John Foote bid to $45,000 to secure him from Scott Eagleton's Seaton Park at the 2008 Carnival Yearling Sale.

There may be more silverware pending for Entrapment with the Most Improved Horse set to be announced at the 14 July race meeting.
