Two-Year-Olds On Track for Karaka Million
2 January 2015
The Order of Entry continues to develop for the $1m Karaka Million with only some small changes in the line-up after Ellerslie’s first feature race on New Year’s Day.
Four Karaka Million contenders competed in the Group 3 $70,000 Barneswood Farm Eclipse Stakes (1200m) in hopes of increasing their prizemoney to ensure a place in New Zealand’s richest race for two-year-olds - $1m Karaka Million.
Continuing to lead the Order of Entry is Showboy (NZ) (Showcasing) with an updated total stakes of $74,650 after finishing third in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes yesterday.
Maritimo (NZ) (Pins) has moved up one spot after yesterday’s race and is now second in the Order of Entry. The Pins filly ran a strong race to finish in second place, raising her total winnings to $51,150 for trainers Graeme and Debbie Rogerson.
Still strong in the running is Windborne (NZ) (Darci Brahma) trained by Jason Bridgman. The two-year-old filly placed fifth in Ellerslie’s trip yesterday slightly increasing her stakes to $45,000.
The remaining Order of Entry continues with Dal Cielo (NZ) (Per Incanto) in fourth position and China Silk (Hard Spun) remains in fifth position after her run at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.
