Unbeaten Taatletail Gets The Group One

Taatletail (Faltaat x Defensive Lady) ridden by New Zealand's leading jockey Michael Walker, was forced to lead the field after jumping brilliantly and with no other horse keen to take up the running. Taatletail led comfortably until being taken on and briefly being headed by Kainui Belle (Kashani x Lady Ukiah) until she fought back bravely to win the event.
Kainui Belle the only filly to challenge Taatletail finished second less than a length away from the classy winner scoring seven points in the Series. South Island filly and last start Rangiora winner Unearthed (Felix the Cat x Minsky) caused a minor upset to run home into third in the Group One event earning herself 3.5 points for her efforts.
Taatletail, trained at Tuhikaramea by the Graeme Rogerson and Stephen Autridge combination now leads the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series with 24 points well clear of Kainui Belle on seven.
Taatletail is owned by Messer's BJ Foster, PC Glover, SR Just, D McLuckie, PL Meo and Graeme Rogerson and was bred by Macau-based Deborah Ho.
It is now thought that Taatletail, who doesn't hold a nomination for Wednesday's Group One Two Thousand Guineas, will line up next in the Group One Bayer Classic on November 27th at the Otaki Maori Racing Club.
Taatletail's victory in the New Zealand Bloodstock One Thousand Guineas continues a great run for Westbury Stud stallion Faltaat, who also sired the winner of Saturday's Listed Te Rapa Supa Centa Sprint at Te Rapa racecourse, Hamilton. New Zealand Bloodstock is offering four Faltaat two year olds at this month's Ready to Run Sale on November 18th.
