War Affair Voted Singapore Champion Miler and 4YO

Karaka graduate War Affair (NZ) (O’Reilly) was one of the major winners at the 2015 Singapore Racing Awards on Thursday night, picking up two awards.

2014 Singapore Horse of the Year was voted the 2015 Champion Four-Year-Old, courtesy of his two wins in the Singapore Four-Year-Old Challenge - the Sgp-2 Stewards’ Cup and the Sgp-1 Patron’s Bowl.
War Affair was also voted the 2015 Champion Miler for the second year running, courtesy of winning the Sgp-1 Patron’s Bowl.
The son of O’Reilly is a winner of 11 stakes races in Singapore, and has earned his owners of the Warplan Racing Stable S$2,718,625 in prizemoney.
Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis purchased him at the 2012 Karaka Premier Sale for $70,000 from Trelawney Stud.
War Affair’s sire O’Reilly is represented by 53 horses at next week’s NZB National Yearling Sales Series with 38 yearlings catalogued in the Premier Sale.
New Zealand bred Affleck (NZ) (Battle Paint), backed up winning last year’s Champion Two-Year-Old title by being crowned the 2015 Champion Three-Year-Old. The Battle Paint colt has a full-brother catalogued at the Karaka Premier Sale – Lot 312.
New Zealand thoroughbreds won 38% of stakes races in Singapore last season. They have also have won four of the last six Group 1 Singapore Derbies and Karaka has produced the Singapore Horse of the Year six times in the last decade.
